Our in-grade full size lumber testing machine is used to evaluate lumber in bending as well as in tension. Material from 2”x4”x8’ up to 2”x10” x 16’ sizes are frequently evaluated. All data is recorded using a computer operated system. We also have the capability of performing ASTM concentrated load testing of plywood panels as well as ASTM adhesive bond characteristics.
ASTM D-143, “Test Methods for Small Clear Specimens of Timber.” ASTM D-198, “Test Methods of Static Tests of Lumber is Structural Sizes.” ASTM D-1037, “Test Methods for Evaluating Properties of Wood-Base Fiber and Particle Panel Materials.” ASTM D-2395, “Test Methods for Specific Gravity of Wood and Wood-Base Materials.” ASTM D-2555, “Test Methods for Establishing Clear Wood Strength Values.” ASTM D-3043, “Test Methods for Structural Panels in Flexure.” ASTM D-4761, “Test Methods for Mechanical Properties of Lumber and Wood-Base Structural Material.” In addition to standardized testing procedures, we have also developed non-standardized procedures that allow us to evaluate a wide range of properties for specific uses. As an example, some tests that are performed at WAS were developed as quality assurance tests for various companies providing wood products which require unique evaluation procedures. There are other tests and procedures performed at WAS, so if your interest is not listed above please contact us and we can discuss your testing needs in further detail. |
